USAF Dental Evaluation & Consultation Service Grinding it Out: Do New Adhesives Bond to Uncut Enamel? (1/03) Microtensile bond strength of self-etching adhesives to ground and unground

چکیده
This study tested the bond strength of three types of bonding agents to ground and unground enamel, and examined the specimens after testing to see where they had failed. Seventytwo bovine incisors were used in the research. Half of the teeth were assigned to the Ground Enamel Group and were prepared by grinding the facial to produce a flat surface for bonding. The other 32 teeth (the Unground Enamel Group) were bonded without prior grinding. The three tested bonding agents were: a three-step product (Scotchbond Multi-Purpose, 3M ESPE) consisting of an etchant, primer, and adhesive; a two-step, selfetching primer product (Clearfil SE Bond, Kuraray/J. Morita) consisting of a self-etching primer and an adhesive; and a one-step, all-in-one, self-etching product (Prompt L-Pop, 3M ESPE) consisting of a single solution. Each bonding product was used to bond a button of composite resin to teeth in each group (unground and ground enamel), and their microtensile bond strength was measured. The results were that no differences in bond strengths were found among the three dentin bonding products. Also, there were no differences between bond strengths to ground and to unground enamel for any of the bonding agents.

Bond strength of one-step self-etch adhesives and their predecessors to ground versus unground enamel
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength of several self-etch adhesives to their two-step predecessors to ground and unground enamel. METHODS Seventy-five extracted, non-carious human third molar teeth were selected for this study. The buccal surfaces of each tooth were mechanically ground to obtain flat enamel surfaces (ground enamel), while the lingual surfaces...

This study was conducted to examine the shear bond strengths of orthodontic brackets to ground enamel with two self-etching adhesives (Beauty Ortho Bond and Transbond XT) and two phosphoric acid-etching adhesives (Kurasper F and Orthomite Superbond). After the bonded specimens were stored in water at 37 degreees C for 24 hours, they were subjected to thermal cycling (TC) at 0 and 5000 cycles. T...

This study evaluated the shear bond strengths and etching patterns of seven self-adhesive resin cements to human enamel specimens which were subjected to one of the following surface treatments: (1) Polishing with #600 polishing paper; (2) Phosphoric acid; (3) G-Bond one-step adhesive; or (4) Phosphoric acid and G-Bond. After surface treatment, the human incisor specimens were bonded to a resin...

PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of water storage on the microtensile dentin bond strength of one total-etch and four self-etching adhesives to dentin. METHODS The adhesive materials were: one total-etch adhesive (Admira Bond) and four self-etch adhesives (Clearfil S tri Bond, Hybrid Bond, Futurabond NR, Adhe SE). Freshly extracted human third molar teeth were used. For each tooth, dentin was e...
